Welcome to the V.A.G. Trophy website.

BREAKING NEWS : Latest - The 2012 V.A.G. Trophy Championship will be televised
on Motors TV !.

Following a successful second season in 2010, the V.A.G. Trophy seems to have captured the imaginations of enthusiasts old and new.

We have been granted Championship status for 2011 and are looking forward to the enhanced profile this will bring to the event.

We are proud to announce our calendar for 2011. The format and calibre of the tracks is amongst the best in the UK, with eight rounds at the following circuits :

· April 2nd - Donington MSVR - 2 Rounds

· Apr 30th - Brands Hatch Indy MSVR - 2 Rounds.

· June 18th - Castle Combe CCRC - 1 Round (20 minute race).

· August 20th - Brands Hatch GP MSVR - 1 Round (20 minute race).

· October 15th - Snetterton 300 MSVR - 2 Rounds.

Through our status as a listed Motor Sport Vision Racing (MSVR) event, we will take part in some high profile race meetings. We will share the paddock with, variously, Formula Renault, GT Cup, and Lotus On Track Elise Trophy.

Overview.

The series caters for 2 wheel drive vehicles from VW, Audi, Seat and Skoda introduced before 2006. We saw a very varied grid in 2010 and this looks set to continue.

The regulations are based around an ‘assumed’ maximum power output for a given engine in a given specification. A summary of the regulations is provided below :

Class A -  this is for Seat Leon Cupra Mk1s, ex VW Cup specification vehicles and highly modified cars. This is similar to the old Class B, with some pertinent changes. Tyre choice is free and slicks are allowed .

Class B - this is similar to the old Class C with additional vehicles allowed to compete. Any MSA list 1A or 1B treaded tyre can be used.

Classes C1 / C2 - this caters for the Mk2 Golf GTI Championship and new Mk3 Golf GTITDI Challenge cars in 8V, TDI and 16V forms.

Engine swaps. We are now allowing engine swaps in Classes A & B. The vehicles must run to the relevant power : weight ratio for the engine used, as detailed in Appendix A of the regulations. This allows mildly modified vehicles which have been fitted with a non-original engine to compete in a lower class (e.g. Mk2 Golf with standard VR6 engine) based on their power : weight ratio, rather than having to run in Class A because of the engine change.

Likely Vehicles.

The organisers expect to attract vehicles of the following types :

1, DIESEL V.A.G. models.

2, Ex. Vento Challenge cars.

3, Ex. Polo G40 Cup cars.

4, Ex. ‘Slick 50’ Golf Mk1 & 2 variants.

5, Ex. VW Cup cars.

6, Ex. Trackday V.A.G. models.

7, Seat Cupras.

8, Modified V.A.G. road cars which are adapted for race use.

Series ethos.

The V.A.G. Trophy builds on the basic ethos of the Mk2 Golf GTI Championship (organized by the same team) and the organisers will actively promote :

· Highly competitive racing. .

· Strict driving standards (non-contact !).

· Excellent value for money.

· Friendly and helpful environment in which to race.

We hope to see you ‘on the grid’ in 2011 !.
